IABC Detroit members and guests are invited to attend an awards judging event.

6 p.m. to 8 p.m.,Wednesday, April 24,
Plex Systems, 900 Tower Drive in Troy.

Pizza and soft drinks provided. We’ll be judging communications entries for the IABC Columbus chapter. It’s a great opportunity to learn from other communicators’ best efforts and to network with fellow members.

To participate, please send an email to Judging Coordinator Dan Saad at daniel.saad@djscomm.com. This judging event is online, so please bring your laptop. If coming from I-75, exit at Crooks, go left on Crooks. Tower Drive is the first street on your left.

Tigers Game Outing

A few IABC members are planning a Tiger game outing. You’re invited to join us. Here’s the plan: Because we all have crazy schedules, we’ll buy our tickets together at the park to allow for day-of-game decisions. We’ll meet at the main entrance by the Big Tiger at 12:30 p.m.

If interested, contact Allan Nahajewski (allannahajewski@comcast.net or 248-877-9746). Car pooling from Royal Oak also is planned. Feel free to invite friends and family. Game time (vs. Royals) is 1:08 p.m.

We’re trying something different for our April program – you bring your biggest current communications challenge, and we’ll try to solve it together. We’ve recruited a panel of respected, experienced communicators from companies and agencies of various types and sizes. With a wealth of communications savvy in the room (including yours), we’ll do our best to tap each other’s experiences for the benefit of all. Isn’t that what IABC is all about? Come join us!

We’ll tackle as many challenges as we can, but to increase the chances of us addressing yours, please send it by April 15 to allannahajewski@comcast.net. This will also give our panelists an opportunity to give it some thought in advance.

Congratulations! It’s 5 p.m. Friday, March 22, Renaissance Awards Deadline Day, and you’ve just finished all of your entries. You’ve earned yourself a treat. Come join your IABC colleagues at Rosie O’Grady’s in downtown Ferndale for our March networking reception. Bring a guest — and if you have any Renaissance Award entries, bring them, too. Any entries hand-delivered to Rosie O’Grady’s between 5-7 p.m. that day will be considered eligible.

March Special: No Application Fee for New Members

March is IABC Detroit’s Membership Month. This means that if you’re a new or lapsed member who joins or rejoins IABC this month, your application fee will be waived. The fee is normally $40.

Your application must be received at IABC World Headquarters in San Francisco during March to qualify.

Spread the word, members. It’s a great time to let your associates know about the value of belonging.

And for nonmembers who are entering the IABC Detroit Renaissance Awards, it’s an especially good time to become a member. You can save an additional $20 per award entry by joining.
